-A supply list will be available at MSS. You will receive a discount on your class supply purchase and it is recommended you purchase your supplies before the first day of class. You will use the Children's Corner pattern "Sutton" to make the daygown and will need an extra yard for the blanket.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:
-Sewing machine in good working condition and basic operational knowledge of your machine with foot control/power cord
-Zig zag foot
-70/10 sewing machine needle
-Fabric of choice-Imperial batiste, Swiss Batiste, Linen, Lawn, Imperial Broadcloth. White fabric provides a better backdrop for embroidery but a sheer batiste in pink or blue could work
-Small embroidery hoop (4"-5") if you have one or you may use one provided
-Fine sewing thread
-Fine, sharp straight pins
-Sewing supplies (fabric sheers, embroidery scissors, snips, seam ripper, water soluble marking pen/pencil, pins, etc.)
You will construct a three piece layette consisting of a basic daygown with shadow embroidery accent, a baby blanket and a handkerchief bonnet. White or pastel colors are best suited for this project since shadow embroidery will be added. The daygown pattern used is "Sutton" from Children's Corner. You can keep it simple or use lace, piping or a decorative stitch to add that special little touch. Susan will show you how to make a basic baby blanket and handkerchief bonnet that doesn't require a pattern.
