You will bind a quilt in class so bring one if you have one ready to bind. If you don't have one a charity quilt will be provided for you to work on.
Lap quilts and smaller sizes are great for this class because you have time to finish the machine work. You may use hand work to finish your binding or do it completely by machine. The choice is yours. Both techniques will be discussed and demonstrated in class.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:
-Sewing machine in good working order. manual, attachments, feet, extra bobbins
-Basic sewing supplies
-Small square ruler 6-6.5"
-Fabric marker (water soluble pen/pencil) Hera marker, etc.)
-Rotary cutter
-Small cutting mat (optional)
-Hand sewing supplies (hand sewing needles, binding clips, thimble, etc.)
-If working on your own quilt be sure to bring your binding to class. If doing total machine binding it is recommended to use matching threads on quilt front (machine thread) and on quilt back (bobbin thread color).
-Charity quilt binding will be provided.
-If you are unsure of what to use for the binding and need help, MSS staff will be happy to assist you in choosing a binding and show you how to calculate the right amount.
