This elegant clamshell quilt is nothing more than an uneven log cabin.  The trick is the coloration and the set.  The paper-pieced 5 1/2" finished block is small enough to utilize men's ties to create the shell if desired.  Traditional cottons or silks are also appropriate.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS: 
-Sewing machine in good working order with all necessary parts/manual
-Basic sewing supplies (pins, seam ripper, snips, etc.)
-Rotary cutter (new blade)/cutting mat (matts available on 1st come 1st served basis)
-Paper scissors/Fabric scissors
-6-6.5" Squared ruler (optional)
-18"-24" ruler
-Travel iron/pressing surface (ironing stations available)
