3 Yard Quilt Magic
The possibilities are endless when it comes to making quilts, and with just 3 yards you can create beautiful quilts quickly. Judy will use the Grace pattern in BIG Block 3-yard Quilts book to teach even the confident beginner how to get started with making quilts in this 3-day course (March 12, 19 & 26). She will discuss the importance of fabric selection and the importance of color choices, how to cut & sew quilt pieces, supplies needed, and much more. You will be piecing blocks, adding borders, pin basting for machine quilting on your domestic machine and binding your quilt (either in class or by demonstration).
What to bring to class:
Sewing machine in good work order, foot control, power cord
Standard foot or 1/4" pressor foot (optional)
3, 1-yard cuts fabric to make quilt (1YD Light-1YD Medium-1YD Dark)
Neutral sewing thread (gray/tan) for piecing (bring 2 filled bobbins to class)
Fabric scissors, snips
Seam ripper
Ziploc bags (several quart size)
6 1/2" x 24" ruler
6 1/2" square ruler
Rotary cutter (45mm) with new blade
Cutting mat 18"x24" will do
Mini iron and ironing matt (if you already own)
Lunch/Snacks
Following items needed later for class:
3 yds backing
1 1/2 yds batting
Quilting thread (for quilting purposes)
Water soluble pen/pencil (not Frixion or Air Erase) and/or Hera marker
Medium safety pins for pin basting
