Advanced Smocking with Susan Newsom
The advanced class will cover how to select fabric, size the dress, selecting an appropriate smocking plate and centering designs while focusing on smocking a basic dress from shoulder to waist. It will also include learning flower smocking stitches to complement the smocking. During the second session Susan will cover construction techniques so you will have to bring your machine to class.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:
-Sewing machine in good working order with power cord, foot control, manual (NEEDED FOR 2ND SESSION ONLY)
-Basic sewing supplies- fabric shears, snips, seam ripper, pins, marking pin/pencil, etc.
-#7 Darner needles
-Fabric, coordinating thread, embroidery floss, smocking plate, to be purchased prior to class under Susan's guidance. You will receive a class discount on class supplies purchased at MSS.
-Lunch/snacks
