Free Motion Machine Quilting Class



This 6-week course is designed to help students develop the skills, muscle control and coordination needed for successful machine quilting, both straight-line and free motion.
Class 1 will be basting and grid quilting a charity quilt (which will be provided). You will need to purchase 2 yds (96x72) of cotton batting and thread. You will donate the quilted quilt.  Binding (included in kit) is not necessary.
Class 2 is ditch work, stabilizing, following a printed line on cheater cloth sandwich panel, loops and stipple.
Class 3-5 is free motion on a doodle sandwich and  doing different filler patterns.
Class 6 is putting it all together so no machine is necessary, just bring pieced tops from home.

**You will receive a 10% class discount on supplies purchased at MSS.


Supply List:

- Sewing Machine in good working order (clean bobbin area, bring all attachments, manual, etc.)
- Darning foot (also called quilting or embroidery) for free motion
- Walking foot for grid quilting, optional. Open toe appliqué or satin foot can be used instead
- Quilting guide arm for your machine(if available)
- Sewing machine needles in assorted sizes (needle size can depend on thread)
- Safety pins for basting, 200-300
- Assortment of fabric markers: chalk, water soluble pen, Hera marker, soap slivers, etc.
- Masking tape
- Thread
